JUNIOR SCHOLASTIC TRAP PROGRAM
We wanted to develop a program, especially for our junior members. In 2005, the Junior Scholastic Trap Program was started for junior members aged 8 to 18.
This program teaches firearm safety, responsibility, discipline, and sportsmanship. Young people are the very future of shooting sports. By fostering an interest in shooting among our children, we help to sustain our sporting traditions for future generations. By teaching young people, both boys and girls, the fun of shooting, we provide them with a sport they can enjoy their whole life.
We are very proud that, because of this program, one of our shooters has already received a college scholarship.
We have certified coaches who are dedicated to this program and the development of young shooters. With approximately 40 shooters in the program, we have a budget in excess of $10,000 a year. This program is partially funded through the NRA Foundation Grant Program as well as individual and corporate donations and various fundraisers throughout the year.
Each registered Junior Shooter is expected to be at all of the scheduled practices. Should you not be able to attend a practice, please notify either Dave Phillips at (618) 407-2616 or (618) 498-1147, in advance of scheduled practice, if possible.
TRAP SHOOTING
We have Trap Leagues on Wednesday nights. If you are interested in participating in a league, please contact the Club for more information. If you would jusT like to practice and sharpen your skills, the practice field is open as well.
Starting April 7th, Trap Field #5 is available for practice each Wednesday from 6:30 – 9:00 PM. The price for a 25 target round is $3.50 for members and $5.00 for non-members. Shotgun shells are available for purchase at the Trap House.
